The Adidas Tango Durlast was the official match ball of the 1978 FIFA World Cup in Argentina. It was a revolutionary design that consisted of twenty identical hexagonal panels with ‘triads’ creating the impression of 12 circles around the pentagons. The ball was made of genuine leather with a shiny waterproof plastic coating. The ball was named after the Tango, a dance that originated in Argentina and reflects the elegance, passion and dynamism of the country.
